De Wallen, toekomst van ons verleden (available in Dutch and English)

Mariska Majoor: “On the basis of personal memories of past times as a window prostitute and candid conversations about it with my twenty-two-year-old daughter Robin, I sketch a picture of the Red Light District and the influence that social discussion and political intervention have on this special neighborhood and its people.During a walk through the Red Light District described in the book, we talk with each other but also with Mayor Halsema, sex workers and brothel owners, residents, entrepreneurs and others who have something to do here. No subject goes undiscussed. Robin took photos of the area along the way that are depicted -in black and white- in the book.” – May 2020
