WALK 'N TALKS & LECTURES
Please click on a tab below to read more about educational possibilities at PIC
Every Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 17.00.
During the Walk ‘n Talk, we will inform you about the history of the PIC, the history of the neighborhood, and the current situation sex workers are facing. You get a chance to explore the Red Light District and reflect on your own thoughts about sex work. Our Walk ‘n Talks are almost always given by sex workers from different backgrounds and different sectors in the sex industry. This is a unique opportunity to speak to a sex worker and listen to their stories first-hand.
Due to the government’s new rules and regulations, we can’t walk with you through the district. But we’ll make sure you have a map and all the information you need to find your way around.
The standard Walk ‘n Talk is in English. It starts in the PIC at Enge Kerksteeg 3 and lasts about 1.5 hours. It costs €25 per person. Please make a reservation by phone or email or use the booking button below.
For student groups, the cost is €30 per person.
We also offer private Walk ‘n Talks at a time of your convenience. Email us for more information.
PIC offers the opportunity to follow a lecture (online) from one of our team members. It is possible to sign up individually to our lectures or request a private one for your group. In these lectures we explain the ins and outs of sex work. You will learn about how the Red Light District works, how you can get started as a sex worker, and what it means to be a sex worker. You’ll leave with a better understanding of why people choose this line of work. There will also be enough time to answer all the questions you might have. If there’s a specific sex work-related topic you’re curious about, feel free to let us know in advance!
Register through the contact form or email us for more information at pic@pic-amsterdam.com.
Are you researching sex work, writing your thesis, or writing an article on sex work?
At the PIC, we can arrange for media or academic interviews. However, this is subject to the availability of PIC team members and the topic of the interview.
Because of the frequency in which we are asked to take part in student/academic interviews, we suggest a €25 donation for our time and expertise.
Please be aware that since the majority of our team are sex workers, photographing or video recording interviews may not be possible. Please allow us 1-2 weeks to arrange interviews. Media interviews that are based on current events can sometimes be arranged quicker.
